With the purpose of ensuring the proper functioning of the association relations between Turkey and the European Community established in 1963 with the Ankara Agreement and providing effective solutions to the emerging problems were established these following institutions:

It can be observed that EU Member States do not have yet a clear position regarding the plan submitted by Turkey to the EU during the Turkey-EU Summit held on 7 March. According to Brussels-based news reports, there is still uncertainty among EU Member States concerning the acceptability of the conditions put forward by Turkey. The EU request that Turkey first put into good use  the 3 billion euros foreseen for the period 2016-2017 before granting the additional 3 billion euros demanded by Turkey until 2018.

IKV organized a seminar entitled “A Horizon Tour on EU-Turkey Relations: New Dimensions, New Objectives” in cooperation with Kayseri Chamber of Commerce (KAYSO) on 16 March 2016. At the seminar, recent developments in EU-Turkey relations, the revision of the Customs Union, the visa liberalisation dialogue and Turkey-EU Readmission Agreement were discussed.

TURKEY’S POSITION AS A EUROPEAN AND REGIONAL HUB WAS ASSESSED DURING JOINT IKV-CIDOB-ELEC CONFERENCE
 
Turkey’s position and potential as a European and Regional energy, finance, logistics and transports, production and service hub were assessed during a conference organized by IKV, held in Istanbul on February 5-6, 2016. The event, co-organized by the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB) and the European League of Economic Cooperation (ELEC) with the support of La Caixa Foundation featured a great number of participants including government officials, private sector representatives and the academia.
